This makes me lose faith in human kind...

Two men were arrested in Cameroon in 2011 for "appearing gay" and were just recently released. Apparently it is illegal to be gay in Cameroon, and because these men were seen dressing like females and drinking feminine drinks at a bar, they were arrested and sent to trial. The judge declared them guilty on the  grounds that "the way they dressed, the way they spoke, and the fact that they drank Bailey's Irish Cream proved they were gay". That is unbelievable. First off, how is being gay a  crime? Deciding who others love does not make you a better person or give you real power, it is just sad. Second, I can't believe there is actually a court system created in this way. And third, how sad is it that today in the U.S. so many states are not only accepting gays, but also allowing gay marriage while hateful crimes like arresting two men for no reason goes unpunished. The other day I was speaking with someone and they asked me what one thing is that I would like to see happen in my life time to our world, and I said, I want to see gay marriage legal everywhere because I believe everyone should be able to love whoever they want to love. I want to see this happen, and I believe that it CAN happen, but first places like Cameroon need to get with the program and crawl out from their moronic rock they have been hiding under while society has evolved.

America is killing us

At the beginning of the year our class talked about how no matter what is and is not accurate, it is common thought that America is the greatest country in the world. I have always been a strong believer that it is not. Now, I don't have another country in mind, but I have always disagreed because of Americas healthcare  and because there are so many ignorant people walking around complaining about how out of shape and pathetic they are without choosing to do anything about it. This article discusses how Americans' have the shortest life expectancy out of  Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Why is this? Well some would say it is only because of healthcare and the ludicrous price of it, but I feel it is more due to the fact that the U.S. has found more and more ways to make fast food cheap and healthy food more expensive, and with the poverty line changing the way it has been, it is so hard for people to make healthy choices. And I don't blame those people, BUT the wealthy/middle class who chooses to eat bad food and then sit on their butt while they take in lard and almost-meats; that is their fault. And it can't be questioned why Americans are dying young. While other countries are dying from starvation we are literally dying from over eating. So is the U.S. the best country in the world? I think not.
